13 Free Plus Size Sewing Patterns (Up to a 60-Inch Bust)

    By 8 min read

Most free pattern lists stop at a size 20. These 13 free patterns go to about a 60 inch bust or hip, and we checked the size chart on every one.

"Size inclusive" gets used loosely. For this list, a pattern had to be free and graded to at least about a 58 inch (147 cm) bust or hip, or be drafted to your own measurements. We opened every pattern page and size chart on October 4, 2026.

A few that often appear on plus size lists didn't make it: Peppermint Magazine's patterns now cost about $10 AUD or more, Love Notions' Laundry Day Tee is now paid, and Hey June's freebies stop at size 22.

    Helen's Closet (sizes 0 to 34, hip 33 to 62 inches)

Getting the fit right on a free pattern

    • Pick your size by measurement, not label. A 7X at Friday and a size 32 at Closet Core are different bodies. Compare your bust, waist and hip to each chart.
    • Check the cup size the pattern is drafted for. Friday uses a B cup and Closet Core a D cup. If you're more than a cup or two away, a full bust adjustment will help a lot.
    • Blend between sizes. It's normal to cut one size at the bust and another at the hip.
    • Make a toile. A quick test version in cheap fabric shows fit problems before you cut fabric you love. See our guide to common fit problems.

Save your measurements and your patterns together

Size-inclusive sewing usually means tracking measurements, adjustments and which size you cut for each pattern. Sewist Studio stores your body measurements next to your free and paid pattern library, so the next time you sew the Orchard dress you know you cut a 24 at the bust graded to a 28 at the hip.
